Kane Parsons becomes youngest No. 1 film-maker in US box office history
Kane Parsons, at 20 years old, becomes the youngest film-maker to debut at number one in the North American box office with his film Backrooms, which earned $81 million in its opening weekend. This achievement surpasses the previous record held by Josh Trank, who was 27 when Chronicle opened with $22 million in 2011. Backrooms also sets a record for studio A24.
