Europe's Civil Society Fights Back Against Far-Right Tactics

Rightwing parties in Europe are increasingly targeting NGOs and dissent through parliamentary queries and legal measures. In 2024, the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) filed 295 queries against left-leaning organisations, more than double the previous year. Five EU governments have been found to consistently undermine the rule of law.
