Abandoned US movie theatres captured in haunting photography
Many grand movie theatres from the 1920s in the US have fallen into abandonment due to changing media consumption habits, particularly the rise of television and streaming. Photographers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre capture the haunting beauty of these relics, now repurposed or in decay. Their work is exhibited at Kyotogrophie 2026 in Japan until 17 May.
