2026 World Cup to Feature Semi-Automated Offside Technology
The 2026 World Cup will introduce semi-automated offside technology, using 12 cameras to track player movements at 50 frames per second. Canadian referee Micheal Barwegan, part of the first all-Canadian officiating team in men's World Cup history, believes this system will help reduce delays and assist officials more effectively.
